HYPNOSIS – A Programming Tool of Mind

Word HYPNOSIS has come from Greek language which means ‘sleep’, but Hypnosis is not sleeping. Hypnosis is an Altered State of Consciousness. It is a sleep like state of mind in which mind becomes more receptive of suggestions given to it. In this state the mind holds back its’ critical and analytical tendencies and reality testing, permitting a receptivity and acceptance of suggestions, images and thoughts which are gently offered by the therapist. This results in skill acquisition in controlling or inhibiting emotional challenges, unwanted behaviors, discomfort, facilitating tissue healing, achieving pain relief and insight.

Hypnosis is a state of mind characterized by an extreme concentration of attention. This happens naturally, and on a fairly regular basis in our daily lives. The feeling of hypnosis has been described as a deep daydream, sometimes a staring off into space, or other telltale sign that the person is involved more in an inner reality, than what is going on around her or him.

In 1958 hypnosis was recognized by the American Medical Association as a legitimate, safe approach to medical and psychological problems. Today more people recognize that the mind and body interact. Mind and body are integrated parts of a whole being; a change in one part affects the other.
A person in hypnosis does not lose control. Whereas the word sleep is sometimes used to describe the trance state, the subject is far from being asleep. A person in hypnosis is aware of his surroundings in a detached sort of way and is more receptive to acceptable suggestions.
Such extreme concentration opens the mind to what are called suggestions, ideas that may be planted directly into a person's thinking. These ideas can help change or control behaviors, emotions and health.
In Hypnosis, the hypnotherapist uses words to help you enter the hypnotic trance. You may be guided to relax your breathing and to notice or feel different sensations such as relaxation, lightness or heaviness, and visualize particular images such as a staircase. Suggestibility may result. At this stage, the hypnotherapist suggests new ideas to you which are consistent with your goals. New ideas may include symptomatic improvement, acquiring control over your body, acquiring insight, acquiring emotional control, acquiring a new perspective and new solutions. Your conscious mind, which usually analyzes and critiques information, is temporarily on hold. Your subconscious mind can absorb and accept these new ideas without any hesitation, which then may become implanted into your thoughts.

Hypnosis ends when the hypnotherapist guides you back to your regular state. You will be able to remember everything. Suggestions and visualizations may be formulated in advance along with your input.

Ninety percent of the population have the capacity to be hypnotized and 15-20% are born with an exceptional capacity. Regardless of your talent or capacity for hypnosis, a good hypnotherapist can help you attain this state if you are highly motivated.
Everyone experiences hypnosis in a unique way. Some individuals feel relaxed, refreshed, or groggy, or distanced from the immediate environment. Some people even report feeling quite ordinary. You will know if hypnosis “took” from your success in reaching your goal. The length of treatment and lasting effects of hypnosis may depend on the following factors: motivation, hopefulness, rapport with the hypnotherapist, skill of the hypnotherapist, and the severity and duration of the presenting problem.

You always remain in control throughout the hypnosis session. Any suggestion that is not consistent with your values or goals will be rejected by your mind. You retain the ability to return to your regular state at any time. You will be able to hear, move and speak while in hypnotic trance.

HOW HYPNOSIS WORKS
Hypnosis modifies the way your brain interprets experiences. It can change your feelings, your thoughts, your perceptions and your behaviors. MRI and PET scans have been used by scientists to visualize the metabolic and chemical activity of the different parts of the brain and how they change during a hypnotic trance. In the 1970’s, Scientists discovered that during hypnosis there is a shift in activity from the left to the right hemisphere.

The left hemisphere is associated with logical thinking and the conscious mind, and the right hemisphere is associated with creative imagination and the subconscious mind. Hypnosis involves the left side of the brain switching off and the right side of the brain being allowed to take over. This switch off may be accomplished by making the brain focus on something monotonous. Once the left side realizes there is nothing worth attending to, it hands over to the right side. Scientists have discovered that during hypnosis, although you may feel more relaxed, hypnosis produces increased activity in several areas of the brain including the temporal, occipital and parietal lobes. The frontal lobes, associated with rational and logical thinking, show reduced activity. The latest discoveries from MRI scans reveal that the cingulate gyrus (part of the limbic system associated with emotional expression) is significantly activated during hypnosis. This explains why you are more able to connect intensely with your feelings under hypnosis.

Incredible Power of Subconscious Mind

Your subconscious mind is an incredible power that you have yet to develop and use to it's full potential. Before we go any further I want to clarify something important. Many people believe that we have a spiritual side and a subconscious side. To me our subconscious mind and our spirit are one in the same. There is no difference as far as I am concerned.

In order to truly understand just how powerful your subconscious mind is you must first understand and accept that there is no such thing as coincidence. Nothing happens by chance. That means nothing is predetermined or meant to be.

Your subconscious mind creates everything in your life based on the messages and information you send to it. You are constantly sending messages and information to your subconscious mind and 90% of those messages are useless or are working against you. Then you wonder why things never get better no matter how hard you try.

Your messages to your subconscious mind are your thoughts, beliefs and actions. So if you constantly worry about not having enough money -- you'll never have enough money. It's that simple. If you don't think you're capable of accomplishing your goals -- you'll never accomplish any of them. If you don't think there are enough opportunities for you -- you'll never find the right opportunity. If you don't think you can get ahead in life -- you'll never get ahead in life. If you think you're overweight -- you'll always be overweight. If you don't think you can -- then you never will. Why? Because your subconscious mind is always working on the information you send it -- and if that information is negative then you will only have a negative reality.

How does it do this? Once your subconscious mind gets your message it then connects with the people and events that will help create the situation based on your message. So if you think it is difficult to make money then your subconscious mind will go out and draw you to people and events to you that will make it difficult for you to make money.

Your subconscious mind does not have a moral clause. It does not say that the message you are sending is good for you so let's create that. It does not say that the message you are sending is bad for you so let's not to do that. It does not distinguish between what is good for you and what is bad for you. It will only go out and create your reality based on the message you send.

Now it's important to understand that your messages to your subconscious mind is not just your thoughts! Everything you do, say and believe is picked up by your subconscious mind. So just because you start thinking you can - that doesn't mean that things will miraculously change overnight. In order to get your subconscious mind to create the changes you want - then you need to create a new way of living. And the first thing you have to do is get your mind working for you.

So in the battle between subconscious and conscious minds, who wins? Your subconscious mind kicks your conscious mind’s butt every day of the week. All the time.

If you have rapport with your subconscious mind, you can talk to it and get feedback. Here are a few white-hot tips for gaining rapport with your subconscious mind:

1. Praise your subconscious mind. I like to tell my subconscious mind how much I love it, trust it, and I thank my subconscious mind for looking out for me.

2. Listen to your subconscious mind. Do you get gut feelings? Do you have intuition about certain things or people? Listen to them. That’s your subconscious mind talking (or at least TRYING) to talk to you.

3. Ask your subconscious mind to give you a signal. Get into a state of relaxation and then ask your subconscious mind to answer you. In a relaxed state, ask your subconscious mind to move your left finger for yes and your right finger for no. My sensational self-hypnosis DVD teaches you how to get in a super relaxed state. Then pose some questions you’ve had on your mind to your subconscious mind.
So what good is being able to communicate with your subconscious mind? Well, for starters you can negotiate conflicts between your subconscious and conscious minds. When you solve the conflict, and your conscious and subconscious are aligned, you are truly unstoppable. I’m serious.

The possibilities are simply endless. How can you negotiate with your subconscious mind? First of all, stop beating your subconscious mind up. If and when you ridicule yourself, ruthlessly criticize yourself, and judge yourself overly harshly, it’s like rolling up your hand into an iron fist and sucker punching your subconscious mind in the gut.

Picture your poor little old subconscious mind doubled over from all the beatings it’s taken from you. Do you think it wants to listen to you then? Heck no. And that’s the problem. Your subconscious mind is trying to do the best for you…no matter what. It doesn’t know if it is running destructive programs or not. It just runs them. It has the “mental age” of a 5 year old child.

When you’re in rapport with your subconscious mind, the thoughts from your conscious mind will transfer to your subconscious mind a lot easier. You’ll be able to break addictions, stop bad habits and create new habits, and really go for your goals without any self-sabotage.

You cause yourself problems by being out of rapport with your subconscious mind. You solve problems and create solutions by being in rapport and working with your subconscious mind.

With this new technique you’ve just learned, and you applying it in your life…I’ve got to say…You are unstoppable!
